Stress Management: Prevention or Intervention
Have you ever thought about how you deal with stress? Most people think of stress management as how to deal with stress once they are already experiencing it. You may feel like you are reacting to a stressful situation. What would it be like for you to identify preventive strategies so that when a stressful situation arises, you can handle it without feeling too overwhelmed?
To identify a prevention strategy for stress management, you should think about what causes your stress as well as what your triggers are.
Also, think about what level of stress you experience. You may be feeling like you don’t have enough time in the day to complete all that you want to do. It could be that you have deadlines for work that seem unrealistic. You might feel like you are trying to accomplish something, but it will never be perfect. There are many different types of stress that you could be dealing with simultaneously.
To prevent heightened levels of stress, you should identify your coping skills and see how to incorporate them into a daily routine. When thinking about your coping skills, what comes to mind? You could consider what coping skills you might like to do either outdoors, indoors, or both. Depending on where you live or how your body adapts to the change in weather, it is helpful for you to think about a variety of different coping strategies.
